The singer Cardi B gave US $ 10,000 to the family of the young Dominican victim of an attack with a corrosive mixture known as “devil’s acid.”
The artist, of Dominican origin, had initially offered the sum – through her Instagram account – as a reward to whoever found those responsible for the crime .
According to the Dominican producer Santiago Matías, who gave the money to Yocairi Rodríguez’s family on behalf of Cardi B, the singer decided to give the money to support the young mother in her recovery.
Rodríguez, 19, suffered burns on 40% of her body, mainly on her face, neck, chest and legs when two men – on a motorcycle – threw the substance at her while she was being transported in a vehicle on September 25 , according to data from the Public Ministry.
The court in the case ordered three men preventive detention for one year for this fact. One of them is the young woman’s ex-partner and the father of her little daughter, who the Prosecutor’s Office suspects is the mastermind of the attack for reasons of jealousy.
Public defenders for the accused have not issued any statements. CNN does not know if the defendants accept or deny the facts.
Dr. Eddy Bruno Vizcaíno, director of the Burn Unit of the Ney Arias Lora Hospital in Santo Domingo, reported this Monday that the young woman has an improvement in her vision.
Vizcaíno indicated that Rodríguez has good vision in his left eye, but that he still sees blurred and with difficulty with his right.
The doctor also said that the young woman is in good spirits.
